DAY 23 - Whitehorse, YT Sorry for the delay in yesterday's post, we got to our Airbnb and were too preoccupied by the wifi and a solid nights sleep lol  Friday night we again slept in the truck, and it seems that the more we do so the better we are getting at it! Each time we find a way to make it a little comfier and get a little bit better sleep. So we're super happy about that considering we still have plenty of nights to sleep in the truck.  We woke up to the sun shining in the back window, and knew it was going to be a really good day. We thankfully only had about a 5 hour drive today to reach Whitehorse. Since Zack has driven basically the whole trip so far, we switched it up for our drive to The Yukon and it's been nice. Although by the end of it, I was ready to hop back into the passenger seat, and by looking at Zack he was looking forward to driving again! 😂You really don't realize what a luxury it is to have someone primarily drivi...

DAY 22 - Arriving in The Yukon!  After a super sketchy sleep on the side of the highway, we woke up bright and early to start our 2nd day of driving. We had our usual cereal breakfast, hopped in the truck and hit the Alaska highway once again.  The morning started off insanely foggy, so we slowed things down to avoid any unwanted run-ins with the morning wildlife. Within 10 minutes we saw a buck and doe on the side of the road eating some breakfast, but luckily this was our only morning encounter. Once we hit about 30 minutes into the trip, we had already lost all service on our phones, were done with driving, were ready to be there AND were stuck at a construction stop sign for 45 minutes. Alas, we pumped up the jams and kept going! We were super thrilled about having Sirius radio for this trip, but after listening to the same 5 stations and them each playing the same 15 songs, it's getting a little old already 😂 Soon enough though the ...

DAY 21 - En Route to The Yukon!  After our awesome 5 day stay in Jasper we had a bitter sweet goodbye and headed towards Dawson's Creek, BC. Bitter because we really enjoyed our time in Jasper and didn't want to leave, but sweet because we can't wait to make it to our first territory,  The Yukon. After making some delicious banana chocolate chip pancakes for Melinda and I, we packed up our tent, reorganized the entire truck for the 84738292929475th time and got ready to go. As a side note, I'm starting to get a little tired of repacking the truck. It's like when you've let your bedroom/house or laundry go for a while and it really needs done.. its like that except that's every other day when you're living out of a truck 😒 and on top of that when your looking for something, it's always in the worst spot. Most of the time it's sandwiched in the middle of the back seat between the dry food bin and cooler underneath 100 different things. ...
DAY 20 - A day around Jasper!  This morning we had a well deserved sleep in (until 9am lol) and enjoyed our rest. Even after waking up we just layed in our cozy sleep bag fortress and reminisced about our insane day yesterday and trip so far. At the campground we are currently at, we had some pretty interesting neighbours to our right. There was about 6 of them, all stuffed into 2 two-person tents, and all speaking different languages. The other day a couple of them decided to cut directly through the middle of our campsite to go get some water, as we were standing about 5 feet away. Now the craziest part is that it wasn't even a short cut for them because it was probably even a shorter distance if they took the road...and they continued to do it on the way back as well. Zack and I just stood there dumbfounded. Not really standard camping etiquette. So Zack and I very obviously set up our wood pile, table, and chairs as a wall along the barrier of our campsites to try to send t...

DAY 19 - WE HIKED A MOTHA FUCKIN' MOUNTAIN!!!!  View from the Skytram on our ride up. Skytram #1, before we boarded.  Enjoying a green tea in the mountains, before the hike of a lifetime.  Couldn't turn down the free breakfast with the Skytram ride. Whistlers Summit trail splitting towards the different lookouts. Indian Ridge (what we hiked) from the top of Whistlers Mountain. So it begins! Descend down from Whistlers Mountain towards Indian Ridge. But now the real hike begins... Peak 1, just before we tackled it. Just a little snippet of Peak 2, continuing right around to the other side of the peak. Melinda making her way up the 2nd peak, nearly dying but looking like a champ. Peak 3 ... Just keeps getting steeper. Finally at the 4th peak, so close! WE JUST SUMMITED A MOUNTAIN!!!! Zack making that mountain his bitch! Breathtaking views from the top. It was a 360 view of mount...

DAY 18 - Maligne Canyon & Lake!  After a couple days off and far too much sleep we were ready to get back to it and get our legs moving! We started our day with some crunchy peanut butter and banana sandwiches and took off towards Maligne Road. There were two things we wanted to accomplish in the area, Maligne Canyon hike and the Maligne Lake. First stop was the canyon, to peer down the 50m drop of rushing water from 6 different bridges. The trails were not very obvious, marked randomly with 7, 7G, 7H etc. and no legend as to where it leads. I read a couple reviews online that mentioned 7H being the way to go, so we took off that way. As we walked along an edge of a steep cliffs, we noticed we were walking the opposite direction that everyone else was ... And seemingly veering away from the canyon. But we decided to trust the good people of the interweb and keep going! Perhaps we should have been more skeptical considering they also told me there...

DAY 17 - A change of pace 😊 Well, today wasn't as exciting as white water rafting, but it was almost as enjoyable. After going none stop since we started our trip we still needed a little more rest. We didn't set an alarm and woke up at 9am. It's pretty hard to wake up early in Jasper considering its between 3-5°c every morning,  and it's much warmer under the sleeping bags. We finally decided to get up and make a Western with spinach, feta cheese, and cherry tomatoes. As Melinda started to cut everything up I started to make a fire, however, I did things a little differently this morning. After watching enough primitive technology videos on YouTube, I figured I would give er a go. I bought a ferrocerium (magnesium strip) fire starter at sail and started to build the fire.. I put decent sized kindling on the bottom with very fine, thin wood shavings at the top with dry pine needles. After that I got out my ferrocerium bar and proceeded to make small magn...
